Compassion

Compassion for others in need, and providing for the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of those in our community and beyond, is the central focus of our outreach service. Bay Pointe Community Church is active in a variety of programs that help to nourish and support those in need. There are many ways to serve, from behind-the-scenes management to front-line caregivers; you are needed.

Freedom Builders Urgent Request
***
We have an urgent and specific need. We are currently working with a young family whose husband has a rare form of cancer and it has rendered him wheelchair bound. He must go to the hospital on average once a week for check up or treatment. They need a vehicle that has a chair lift, so if you have or know someone who has a van with a lift and would be willing to help with transportation, please let us know! The family lives just west of Lake Ann. In addition to a lift, the roof needs to be elevated or the floor lowered as the husband is 6’9″ tall. They are currently paying extraordinary costs to transport him each week and they do not have the funds. I know this is a large request, but I promise you that to meet his couple and their family will bless you more than you can imagine.
Please email: Skip Brown sbrown02@chartermi.net

Thanks in advance!

• Freedom Sunday – February 26
There are more people enslaved today than at any other point in human history. The statistics are staggering: 600,000-800,000 men, women and children are trafficked across international borders each year. Sunday, February 26, is “Freedom Sunday” – a day set aside to bring light to such a devastating issue, but also a day to pray… for those who are enslaved, for those who are responsible, and also for those of us who are capable of making a difference. Thousands of churches across the world will participate.

In partnership with Bay Pointe’s Compassion Ministries and Freeset (a Bay Pointe partner ministry), Student Ministries will provide a special way for you to make a difference. Students will be selling watches that have “I Won’t Watch” written on them – meaning that we won’t stand by and watch the injustice around us – we will bring change. For every watch sold, a portion of the proceeds will benefit student mission trips this summer, while a portion will also directly benefit Freeset. Freeset is located in the heart of the Red Light District in Kolkata, India, and offers alternative employment to women trapped in the sex trade industry.

Stop by the Nex Gen Student Ministries table in the lobby on February 26 and choose to NOT watch the injustice, but to help us bring change!

Explore your opportunities for loving, growing and reaching by volunteering your gifts in any of the areas below:

    UPCOMING MISSIONS

  • Short Term Mission Trips

    Mission Trip to Haiti
Did you know that the mission team will travel to Haiti February 23- March 3? Part of the team will be working with local villagers to build a playground at the Gaspard School where we sponsor a feeding program. The other part of the team will be working with 40 girls and young women who were orphaned by the 2010 earthquake.

We understand that when it comes to international mission work not everyone has the ability or desire to travel, but many have a heart to be involved in some way. We need “goers” AND we need “senders.” So if you’d like to help a team member get to Haiti, or contribute to material costs for construction or donate to orphan care, you can write a check with the word “Haiti” on the memo line and we’ll put it toward costs for the mission trip. THANKS!
