If you have questions about Bay Pointe Community Church, we would love to hear from you! Here are a few responses to some of the most frequently heard questions, but if you don't find what you're looking for, please just ask.

Bay Pointe is a non-denominational church. What does that mean?
It means we are not officially tied to a specific denomination (i.e. Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic, etc).  However, we are a member of the Willow Creek Association, a network of evangelistically-minded churches around the US and throughout the world committed to reaching people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

How is Bay Pointe governed?
Bay Pointe is a staff-led and elder-ruled church.  The staff, under the leadership of the lead pastor, leads the day to day ministry and empowers hundreds of volunteers to serve as ministers of Jesus Christ. The elder board is charged with the overall spiritual vitality and direction of the church and serves as the direct supervisor to the lead pastor.

The specific relationship and responsibilities of the lead pastor and the elder board are spelled out in the church’s Policy Governance Manual. Click on Governance in this section of the website to learn more.

Bay Pointe is a large, growing church.  How do I avoid getting lost in the crowd and find meaningful opportunities to connect?
Our CONNECTIONS ministry is designed specifically to address the issue of making a large church feel small and intimate.  Through Life Groups and serving teams people connect in smaller groups of friends where they enjoy the best of both worlds—the impact and synergy of a large gathering and the intimacy, community and friendship of a smaller group.

What’s available for children and teens?
Lots!  Bay Pointe has placed a huge priority on developing high impact ministries to children and students.  Click on our Children’s and Student Ministries links for more information.

What is Bay Pointe doing beyond Bay Pointe?
Through strategic local, national and international partnerships we are committed to unleashing massive amounts of compassion in our community and around the world.  Visit our Compassion link for further information.

Why doesn’t Bay Pointe offer classes for adults on the weekend?
Due to space limitations and the priority of our children’s ministry we do not offer adult classes at our weekend services.
However, GROWING BELIEVERS into a community of fully devoted Christ-followers is a huge part of our mission statement.  We offer two "semesters" of discipleship classes each year. You can check out our current listing here.
We also have multiple growth opportunities that are offered at multiple times and locations. See Connecting to learn more about life groups and other growth opportunities.

Does Bay Pointe offer midweek services?
Yes, but they meet in homes, restaurants, apartments, public parks and professional offices.  They are called LIFE GROUPS and they represent growth opportunities at the micro-level.  We believe that ongoing spiritual growth happens best in the context of a healthy, Biblically-functioning life group.  It is where we love, serve, study, grow, celebrate and live out the numerous “one another” statements of the New Testament.

Why doesn’t Bay Pointe have a cross?
We do have a cross, but it’s mobile. Sometimes it’s on stage and other times it’s in the auditorium in various places. While it is a vital symbol of our faith we like the flexibility of displaying the cross in different ways in different venues for greater impact.

How do I become a member?
Start by answering this question: “Am I fully on board and passionate about the church’s mission and core values?  Is this the kind of church I’m excited to serve in, give to and invite my unbelieving friends to join me?”  If the answer is a resounding YES, you’re half way there!

The next step would be to register for Bay Pointe’s five-week membership life group.  It includes four DVD teachings and Bible study.  To register for the next session, click here.
